Play a song all the way through
One beginner arrangement. The castle does not require a stadium tour.

Who this is for
A new or returning player who wants a satisfying, bounded practice project on an instrument they can access.
Before you begin
Choose an arrangement suited to your starting level and check the required skills. Borrowing an instrument or using an existing one can help you test the idea first.
Your first session
Look through the arrangement and select one short, difficult section. Practice it slowly before trying to join it to the surrounding music.
The path in four steps
- Choose an easy arrangement for your instrument
- Practice the hardest small section slowly
- Connect the sections at a comfortable tempo
- Play or record one complete attempt
Use these as editable milestones. The linked activity source supplies the detailed instructions; adjust your plan as you learn.
What finished looks like
Play or record a complete attempt at a comfortable tempo. Keep that version as a checkpoint and decide whether to refine it or learn another song.

Alfred's Essentials of Music Theory: Complete
If your chosen arrangement uses notation, use this as a reference for unfamiliar rhythms and note values.
Consider: The complete book extends beyond an introductory quest. This edition includes CDs; check playback access and whether you need a version with online audio. It does not teach technique for a particular instrument.
Free or already owned: Use the free theory course and notation exercises, or borrow a theory reference from the library.
